Ich hatte gestern das wiederkehrende Vergnügen, das Klavierbau-Geschäft Piano Porth in Wiesbaden zu besuchen und mein neues Klavier zu besichtigen. Ich möchte mich ausdrücklich für die ausgezeichnete und geduldige Beratung bedanken, die ich während meiner Besuche erfahren durfte.
Besonders beeindruckt hat mich die Möglichkeit, das gebrauchte Klavier gemeinsam mit einer netten Kollegin und sehr erfahrenen Klavierbauerin genauer unter die Lupe zu nehmen. Ich konnte ihr bei einzelnen Arbeitsschritten der Aufarbeitung der Tastaturbeläge, der Mechanik und Vorintonation direkt über die Schulter schauen und konkrete Fragen stellen. Dank dieser Gelegenheit konnte ich mein zukünftiges Instrument in einer ganz besonderen Tiefe kennenlernen und weiß jetzt besser, was die klanglichen Besonderheiten dieses Instruments sind, worauf diese zurückzuführen sind und worauf ich zukünftig achten sollte. Darüber hinaus erfährt man so natürlich einiges über den spannenden Beruf des Klavierbauers und lernt sympathische Menschen kennen, die ihre gesamte Zeit und ihr Herzblut in eines der schönsten Instrumente stecken.
Der Inhaber sowie die Angestellten haben sich sehr viel Zeit genommen und alle noch so detaillierten Fragen geduldig und sehr anschaulich beantwortet – bei komplexen Zusammenhängen notfalls mit vollem Körpereinsatz.
Ich empfehle das Geschäft auf jeden Fall mit gutem Gewissen weiter – selbst wenn es etwas weiter von meiner Heimat entfernt liegt und der Transport dadurch etwas teurer wird.
Und noch eine zentrale Erkenntnis am Rand: Es lohnt sich wirklich, einen erfahrenen Klavierbauer zu Rate zu ziehen, wenn man beabsichtigt, ein gebrauchtes Klavier zu kaufen, aus dem man anschließend auch Musik herausbekommen möchte.

I was particularly impressed by the opportunity to take a closer look at the used piano together with a nice colleague and very experienced piano maker. I was able to look over her shoulder and ask specific questions during the individual work steps of reconditioning the keyboard coverings, the mechanics and pre-voicing. Thanks to this opportunity, I was able to get to know my future instrument in a very special depth and now I know better what the tonal characteristics of this instrument are, what they are due to and what I should pay attention to in the future. In addition, you learn a lot about the exciting profession of piano builder and get to know likeable people who put all their time and heart and soul into one of the most beautiful instruments.
The owner and the employees took a lot of time and answered all the questions, no matter how detailed, patiently and very clearly - in the case of complex connections, with full physical effort if necessary.
In any case, I recommend the shop with a clear conscience - even if it is a little further from my home and the transport is a bit more expensive as a result.
And one more key finding on the side: It really pays to consult an experienced piano builder if you intend to buy a used piano that you also want to get music out of afterwards.
